Roger Lee Stomberg

Roger Lee Stomberg, of Lake Mary, Florida, passed away on September 5, 2026, after a long battle with cancer. He was born on June 7, 1955, in Willmar, Minnesota.

Roger will be remembered as a man of great strength, intelligence, and heart. He was curious by nature, quick-witted, and blessed with a good sense of humor. Enthusiastic about learning, he gave his all to every new challenge and approached life with a fearless spirit. He did not give up easily, and he faced hardship with determination and courage. That same strength carried him through his fight with cancer, a battle he met with resolve because of the deep love he had for his family.

Throughout his life, Roger built a career marked by service and dedication. He served as a deputy sheriff and as chief of police in Renville County, Minnesota, roles that reflected his courage and commitment to others. He later worked as a software engineer with McKesson for 30 years, bringing the same intelligence, discipline, and willingness to keep learning that defined so much of his life.

Roger found joy in the world around him. He loved learning new things and embraced his interests wholeheartedly. He enjoyed beekeeping, kayaking, and fishing, and he especially loved the outdoors. He and his family also treasured time spent traveling in an RV, most often making their way to the beach. Whether exploring, relaxing in nature, or taking on a new pursuit, Roger brought enthusiasm and energy to the moments he loved.

Above all else, Roger’s proudest accomplishment was his family. He loved them with great depth, and that love shaped the way he lived, fought, and cared for those closest to him.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Stomberg; his daughters, Jodi Hewing and her husband, Jermaine, and Nicole Wagner and her husband, Brent; his grandchildren, Bradley Wagner and Isla Wagner; and his brothers, Loren Stomberg and his wife, Deb, and Wayne Stomberg and his wife, Barb. Each of them held a cherished place in his life, and his love for them was constant and enduring.

Roger was preceded in death by his father, Lester Stomberg, and his mother, Audrey Stomberg.

Roger Lee Stomberg will be remembered as a heroic man whose strength, humor, and devotion to family left a lasting impression on all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on in the lives of those he treasured most.
