Roger Toyloy

January 8, 1946 — June 10, 2024

Roger Garth Cranston Toyloy, affectionately known as Papa, Jakes, and Tuco was born on January 8, 1946, bid farewell to this world on June 10, 2024. He was surrounded by the love of his family, with memories of a life well-lived.

Roger understood the importance of balancing work with play—especially when it came to his number one passion: football. Inspired by his hero, Pele, Roger dedicated himself to the game with a fervor matched only by his love for life's simpler pleasures like listening to Reggae music and namming good food. His good looks, and infectious charm made him a favorite among friends.

Roger completed his studies at the Jamaica School of Agriculture. From his 1st marriage he was blessed with 2 beloved children: Romi and Roger. Life took Roger across the seas to America in 1977, where he landed a dream job working for the United Nations. He would subsequently remarry and expand his family with his “Muffy” Marguerite O'Connor. They were married for 47 ½ years. The couple embraced the joy of parenthood once again with the births of Tamara (spouse Larry), and twins, Sean (Fiancee Marina & her daughter Kiana) & Shari.

Roger and Muffy settled in Orlando, FL in 1983. A dedicated family man to the core, Roger decided to go into business for himself. He purchased a beautiful semi truck and joined the world of transportation. His love of driving kept him trucking along until his retirement in 2003.

While you can take the man out of Jamaica, you definitely couldn’t take Jamaica out of this man. You knew when he entered a room as you could hear him before you could see him. Roger instilled in his children a deep love for their Jamaican heritage; Reggae rhythms, the calm allure of the seaside, and the undeniable pleasure of a steaming plate of curry goat. His laughter echoes through generations, punctuated by his unique sense of humor and colorful language that entertained as well as frightened— such as teaching his grandson Legend the correct way to kiss his teeth and agreeing to say "BCRC" instead of “#@!&*!!”

Roger, was the youngest child and only son of Felix Debon Toyloy and Lynette Pearly Toyloy (both deceased). He leaves behind a tapestry of memories cherished by his older sisters Cherry (recently deceased)(spouse Jeff, also deceased), Lana(spouse Fred) and Audrey(spouse Bobby). Countless relatives and friends lives were touched by his warmth and kindness. His legacy lives on through his children Romi, Roger Jr., Tamara, Sean, and Shari, and his grandchildren Donovan, Zurich, Caylah, Logan, Ilan, Legend, and Zion. Each carry forward his spirit of adventure and love for life.

One Love, Rest Easy Roger you will be missed!
