San Tong Young (翁 新 堂) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at AdventHealth Hospice in Orlando, Florida, surrounded by his family. He was 96 years old.
San was born May 28, 1928, in the Guangdong region of China and immigrated to Chicago, Illinois, USA, in the early-1950s. During his time in Chicago, he enjoyed photography, and attending Chinese Christian Union Church and Chicago White Sox baseball games. He and his wife, Ying Ki Young (翁 英 姫, née Chan, 陳), married on January 19, 1955, and moved to New York, New York, in 1970 to build a family. While there, he had two children: Edmond Young and Jackson Young. In 1976, he and his family moved to Sarasota, Florida, for the warmer weather to raise their young boys. San and his wife moved to Orlando, Florida, in 2006 to be closer to his grown children. In retirement, San enjoyed working on his vegetable garden, working on his house, working on the yard, being with his grandchildren, being a part of the community center, attending church, playing mahjong, and walking.
San is survived by his wife Ying Ki, his son Edmond, his son Jackson, and his four grandchildren: Olivia, Hunter, Thomas, and Katherine.
