In Loving Memory of Sherri Lynn Rivera
Sherri Lynn Rivera, 70, of Winter Springs, Florida, passed away on September 20, 2026. She was born on July 12, 1956.
Sherri was a loving and selfless wife to her husband, Marco Rivera, and a devoted mother to her sons, Mario Rivera and Richard Rivera, and her daughter, Nicole Rivera. She was also a cherished grandmother to her granddaughter, Yasmin Rivera. Her family was the center of her world, and she gave of herself freely and wholeheartedly to the people she loved.
Sherri was a woman who believed in showing up, working hard, and giving her best to the people around her. She worked as a food service employee at Lyman High School for more than 30 years, dedicating much of her life to the school and the students she served. She was known for her incredible work ethic and dependability, rarely ever missing a day of work. Her dedication was a reflection of the kind of person she was—loyal, responsible, caring, and always willing to be there for others.
Perhaps the best way to describe Sherri was selfless. She had a special way of making the people she loved feel cared for and celebrated. Birthdays were especially important to her. Each year, she would make sure that the birthday person got exactly what they wanted—she would prepare their favorite dinner and make whatever dessert they requested. It wasn't simply about the food; it was Sherri's way of saying, “You are special to me, and today is your day.” Those birthday dinners and the love she poured into them will become some of the memories her family treasures most.
Sherri found happiness in the simple things that made life special. She enjoyed doing puzzles with her husband, hand quilting blankets for loved ones, and spending time in her garden caring for her roses. She also loved to dance, and her joy could be seen whenever music filled the room. Another annual tradition she put her heart into was Christmas cookie baking. She was an amazing cook but an even better baker and was known by all for her famous kolaches, bukeyes, oreo truffles, and the love that she baked into each sweet treat for those she cared about. Whether she was creating something beautiful with her hands, tending to her garden, enjoying a dance, preparing a special meal, or simply spending time with her family, Sherri brought love and warmth to everything she did.
Above all, Sherri was a loving wife of 46 years, a devoted mother, and a cherished grandmother. She always put the needs of those she loved before her own and found happiness in caring for others. Her strength, kindness, dedication, and unconditional love made her someone her family could always count on.
Her love and kindness touched the lives of many. The memories she created with Marco, Mario, Richard, Nicole, Yasmin, her extended family, friends, coworkers, and the many students and people she encountered throughout her years at Lyman High School will be treasured forever.
Though she is no longer with us, Sherri's legacy lives on through the people she loved and the lives she touched. Her laughter, her kindness, her creativity, her love of dancing, her dedication to her work, and especially the love she put into caring for her family will never be forgotten. Her greatest gift was the love she gave so freely.
She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
