Shiverla Ann “Jackie” Moore, age 90, of Orlando, FL, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at AdventHealth Hospice in Orlando.
She was born on March 15, 1935 in Kansas City, KS. Her family later relocated to Kansas City, Missouri where graudated from Lincoln High School, Class of 1953. Shiverla was married to Otis I. Moore, Jr.
Shiverla was the mother of five children – Glenn, Donna, Charisse, Perry, and Jamie. As a single mother, her children were the center of her life. All of her children grew up to be productive members of society.
She started her career at AT&T in 1964. Eventually, Shiverla was promoted to sales manager. In 1978, she was relocated to St. Louis, and she then retired from AT&T 1996 after 32 years of service. After her retirement, she would move back to Kansas City and stayed until 1999 when she relocated to Orlando, FL.
Shiverla accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri for many years, and later a member of New Sunny Mount Missionary Baptist Church in St. Louis. After moving to Orlando, she joined Tangelo Baptist Church, where she was an active member of the usher board.
She was also a political activist. Shiverla was an active participant in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960’s, and participated in marches and lunch counter sit-ins. She served as the membership chairperson of Operation PUSH (Founded by the Rev. Jesse Jackson), in Kansas City, MO in the late 1970’s. Shiverla was a huge supporter of President and Mrs. Barack Obama, and in her later years worked as a poll workup for elections in Osceola County, FL.
Additionally, she was an entrepreneur and owner of her own business, “Ethnics-N-Art & Childrens’ Books.” Shiverla enjoyed crafts, scrapbooking, and art work. She was also a world traveler, and particularly enjoyed vacations to the Caribbean Islands.
Shiverla was an entertainer and member of Club Ebony. She was a well-known as a "social butterfly" and forever friend, especially to her closest friends, Martha, Joyce, Tillie, and Joannie. Her friends would refer to her as the life of the party and had a sharp and wonderful sense of humor. She also loved her dogs very much and was a dog mother to “Ladee” and later to “Honee.”
Shiverla will be remembered for being a generous soul. She never knew a stranger. She was quick to offer a hot meal. She will be missed dearly and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her forever.

Shiverla is survived by her five children, Glenn Moore, Donna Tunson, Charisse Moore, Perry Moore, and Jamie Badois; her grandchildren, Joshua Tunson, Lashell Kirland, Denee Kinnemore, Destiny Badois, Devyn Badois, and Mathias Moore; and her great-grandchildren, Nasir Zen Cotton-Cheatom and Te’a Tunson
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hampton Norman, Jr., and Mary Norman; her sister, Louise Graham; and brother, Sam Parks.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home – East Orlando Chapel, 895 S. Goldenrod Rd, Orlando with Rev. Milton Biggham officiating.
Visitation will be on Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Interment will follow the funeral service on Monday at Osceola Memory Gardens, Kissimmee, FL.
