Suellyn C. Magennis, a luminous spirit who graced the world with her warmth and vibrancy, was born on April 30, 1943, in the charming city of Rock Island, Illinois. She departed this life on February 19, 2026, in Lake Mary, Florida, leaving behind a tapestry of cherished memories and an indelible mark on the hearts of those she loved.
Her professional journey saw her thrive in the clerical field, where she dedicated her talents to the electrical contractors' association, as well as the Visiting Nurses Association. Suellyn's unwavering commitment and bright disposition shone through in every endeavor she undertook. Renowned for her intellectual curiosity and adventurous spirit, she traveled extensively, collecting not merely souvenirs but rich experiences that would encapsulate her vibrant character.
At the heart of her existence was her family. She is survived by her beloved husband, Tom P. Magennis, whose unwavering support and love were sources of comfort and joy throughout their years together. Suellyn's legacy continues through her son, Scott McFall, and her grandchildren—Chasity Alamina, Heather Vega, and David Roberts—each of whom held a special place in her heart. Her role as a grandmother brought her profound joy; she reveled in being the best grandma and great-grandma in the world, instilling values of compassion and love in her great-granddaughters—Annalisa Giles, Katherine Giles, and Lydia Roberts—and great-grandsons—Daniel Giles, Brandon Giles, and Lucas Giles.
The fabric of her family expanded further with her step-daughters, Molly Olson and Megan Tarpein, and her step-son, Thomas Magennis. Suellyn found delight in her step-grandsons—Justin Magennis, Jack Magennis, Vince Tarpein, and Jett Tarpein—and step-granddaughter, Sasha Tarpein, creating bonds that enriched her life.
As we gather to reflect upon Suellyn's extraordinary life, we remember the beautiful moments shared, including the unforgettable memory of her husband proposing to her on the tennis court, a testament to their enduring partnership. She faced life with resilience, peace, and grace, passing away peacefully after a short-term illness, with Tom by her side, embodying the love that surrounded her.
Suellyn is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Jean (McDonald) Jennisch, who surely welcomed her with open arms in the realm beyond. She is also preceded by her daughter, Melissa Roberts, grandson, Billy Joe Markus, and brother, Jerry Jennisch. Their memories remain intertwined with hers, offering solace and connection to those who carry her spirit forward.
A bright light extinguished from our midst, Suellyn C. Magennis leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to family.
