In Loving Memory of Terence James Conroy

On August 24, 2025, the world became a little quieter with the passing of Terence James Conroy at the age of 73. Born on November 3, 1951, Terence lived a life defined by hard work, sacrifice, loyalty, and an unwavering love for his family.

To know Terence was to know a man who believed in showing love through actions. He wasn't one for grand speeches or empty promises. Instead, he showed up. He worked hard. He provided. He taught by example. Every dollar he earned was earned honestly, and every achievement in his life came through determination, discipline, and perseverance.

A devoted husband to his beloved wife, Mary Conroy, Terence built his life around his family. He took great pride in being a husband, father, and grandfather. His greatest accomplishments were never found in job titles or awards, but in the family he helped build and the lives he touched along the way.

Terence spent much of his career as a retail manager, including many years with Toys "R" Us and Walmart. He was a respected leader, mentor, and teacher to countless associates throughout his career. He believed in doing things the right way, taking responsibility, and treating people fairly. His work ethic was something that could not be taught—it was simply who he was. Those who worked alongside him knew him as someone who led by example and always took pride in a job well done.

A traditionalist at heart, Terence believed in values that never go out of style: honesty, accountability, respect, and keeping your word. He believed that if something was worth doing, it was worth doing right. He carried those principles throughout his life and passed them on to his children and grandchildren, whether they realized it at the time or not.

What many will remember most, however, was his generosity. Terence was the kind of man who would stop what he was doing to help someone in need. If you needed advice, he gave it. If you needed help, he offered it. If you needed support, he was there. He truly would have given the shirt off his back to help another person.

Terence is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Conroy; his daughters, Barbara Howell and her husband, Joey Howell, Alexis Cummins and her husband, Joseph Cummins, and Stacey Palechek; his sons, Michael Conroy and Keith Conroy; and his treasured grandchildren, Briana Curtis, Sean Curtis, Kimberly Howell, and Tyler Howell; Tidus Conroy and Kairi Conroy; Maximus Cummins, Maverick Cummins, and Lillian Cummins; and Logan Palechek and Levi Palechek.

Though our hearts are heavy with his loss, we find comfort in the life he lived and the example he set. The values he carried, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely will continue through his family for generations to come.

The measure of a man is not what he leaves behind for himself, but what he leaves behind in others. By that measure, Terence lived an extraordinary life.

He will be missed every day, remembered always, and loved forever.
