William Ross Baxter, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away on August 24, 2025, at the age of 48. Born on June 30, 1977, in Grayling, Michigan, Billy touched the lives of many through his passion for cooking, care for others, and commitment to his family.
As the owner of Sugar Grove Catering and Events, Billy showcased his extraordinary talent in the culinary arts. His catering service provided delicious meals that brought comfort and warmth to those he cared for. In moments of need, he selflessly sent meals to friends and customers alike, always prioritizing the well-being of others. His friendship with Alex, which blossomed from childhood when they were just twelve, continued to thrive as Alex worked alongside him, creating cherished memories in the kitchen.
Billy was more than just a remarkable chef; he was a devoted husband to Christy and a loving father to his three children, Ross, Leah, Shawn and his beloved dog Beau. His presence was a source of joy, enveloping his family in love and laughter. Known for his incredible hugs and keen sense of humor, Billy had a unique ability to brighten the darkest of days with a well-timed joke or creating mischief, proving himself the fun-loving spirit of the family. His quiet strength offered support when needed, making him a steadfast figure in their lives.
Outside of his culinary pursuits, Billy reveled in the simple pleasures of life. He made countless memories at the family farm in Michigan, where he enjoyed the beauty of nature with family and friends. At home on Deep Lake was a sanctuary for precious moments spent jet skiing, tubing, and building roaring fires in the fire pit, with sunsets on the dock becoming symbols of the beauty he cherished with his family. Sundays were dedicated to grilling dinner together, reinforcing the close bonds that defined his family life, where any and all were always welcome.
Left to carry on his legacy of love and laughter are his devoted wife, Christina; children Ross, Leah, and Shawn; mother Beth; father William; and sister Sarah. Although Billy's physical presence may be gone, the impact he made on those around him will live on through memories, smiles, and the laughter of the many lives he touched.
His funeral service will be held at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Winter Park, Florida, on September 6, 2025, beginning at 10:30 AM. In this time of sorrow, we remember William Ross Baxter as not only an extraordinary chef but also a remarkable human being whose kindness, dedication, and love will forever resonate in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Second Harvest Food Bank, a cause close to Billy's heart would be a great way to honor his legacy. May his memory be a blessing.
