George "Butch" Wanken, Jr., age 64, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2013.
Butch was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 5, 1948, and was a Maryland resident until 1989 when he moved to Florida with his family. He was an avid fisherman and grew up fishing on the Chesapeake Bay. His love of the water flowed into his longtime career as marine mechanic. He also pursued his longtime love of photography. He was an avid fan of blues music and attended many concerts, meeting and photographing many of the musicians.
Butch is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Patricia Wanken of Florida; son, Charlie Wanken and his wife Gola of Maryland; brothers, Charles Thompson of Florida and Jimmy Thompson of Pennsylvania; sisters, Belinda Forlifer of Florida, Jinx Anderson of West Virginia and Kathy Wood of Maryland; grandson, Brandon Wanken of Maryland.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in honor of George "Butch" Wanken, Jr.
Services will be held at a later date in Pasadena, Maryland.
