He is preceded in death by his parents, John Tempest and Florence W. Tempest.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Tempest, son, Michael Tempest, son, Robert J. Tempest, daughter, Betsie Simmons, grandchildren, Michael, Patrick, Marshall and Shelby, and brother, Bruce Tempest.
John was born on June 17 in Philadelphia, but grew up on the south shore of new jersey in the town of wildwood. He attended Fork Union Military academy. Martha his wife of almost 60 years he met at the University of Miami. In his adult life he was part owner of our family business which included the El Coronado Hotel and Resort in Wildwood crest N.J. He also enjoyed teaching hotel and motel management in Orlando at both Mid Florida and Westside Vo-tech centers until his retirement. In addition he was a founding family member of St Peter and Paul catholic church. His fun loving personality will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation is Saturday, August 8, 2020 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm with memorial service starting at 1:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Winter Park Chapel, 3806 Howell Branch Road, Winter Park, FL 32792.
