Celebration of Life for Carlos P. Ortiz

Carlos P. Ortiz, age 71, went to be eternally with the Lord on January 1, 2022. He was born on October 4, 1950, in Santurce, Puerto Rico.

Carlos is survived by his loving wife, Margot Ortiz, or “Marge” as Carlos loved to call her, his son Eric Ortiz and wife Kathy, Daughters, Anissa Alvarez and husband Raul and Amanda Whittle and husband Raimey, along with seven grandchildren, Dajia, Jaeden, Noah, Roman, Sophia, Nolan, and Ayla.

Carlos and Margie, married for 51 years, wed on October 17, 1970, in Brooklyn, New York.

Carlos was a percussionist and loved all things music. Besides his love of music, his family was his main hobby. Carlos loved doting on his grandchildren, and they called him by many different names: Grandpa, G-Pa, Papa, Pepa, Banpaa, and Gramps. There are not enough words to describe the amazing family man that he was. Carlos was the greatest example of what a man should be.

What are some memories of Carlos that make us smile when we think of him?

-Carlos was a man of God, quiet in his faith and his love for Christ, and loved to read his bible.
-Carlos loved to paint by number.
-Carlos loved French fries, which he lovingly referred to as papas, Vienna Fingers, Junior Mints, and absolutely loved a good strong cup of coffee.
-Carlos loved his sweets and would always make sure to sneak a taste, what he adoringly called “taking tax,” before sharing his goodies.

Carlos’ life will be celebrated on Sunday, January 9, 2021, at Newcomer’s Funeral Home. We invite you to join us for a virtual memorial celebrating Carlos via live stream starting at 11am for all family and friends near and far to honor Carlos, his life, and the wonderful man, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, son, brother, and friend that he was.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be sent to:
